Survey Says…

Survey Says…

Last week I posted a link to an online survey for RABlog week 2016.  I had some terrific responses, and am so grateful for everyone who participated.  In total, we had 65 people start the survey, and only five failed to answer all the required questions meaning we have 60 responses.

Question 1:  Which Badge do you most prefer for use during 2016 RABlog week?

RABADGE2The badge contest was not even close; the results were as follows:

Badge 1 = 15 votes

Badge 2 = 25 votes

Badge 3 = 17 votes

Badge 4 = 3 votes

I think Badge 2 will be a terrific for us to use on our website this year.  Still, I was impressed with the support shown Badge 1 and Badge 3.

Question 2: Rank order your choice for the best week for RABlog week listing your first choice as number 1 and your least favorite as number 4.

The response to this question is much closer.  A total of 40 people rank ordered these answers. Meaning twenty-two respondants chose to bypass this portion of the survey.  By far the least favorite week is the 3rd week of September or September 19-25 this year.  This week received only 3 first place votes.

In a rank order system, any set of dates are expected to be grouped close together, and that is what happened with the other choices.  The other three choices netted 14, 12 and 11 first place votes. So the analysis went to the second place votes.  This is where the second place votes came into play.   The largest second place vote group was the week beginning with the last Monday in September.  The other two first place choices only received 5 and 9 second place votes with the main choice received 13 votes. Interestingly the least favorite first choice received the second highest number of second place votes with 12. Overall assigning numeric values and running all the statistics (thankfully, SurveyMonkey does this) means RABlog week will be September 26 to October 2 (the last week of September) 2016.

The least favorite option is seven full days.  (This follows patterns set in other blog week events).  The most favorite and the one we will go with is option 3:  five days Monday thru Friday with two optional wild card days on Saturday and Sunday.

Question 4:  Should this be a standing week, regardless of the timing of MedX?

The answer to this one is the clearest cut of the survey with 67% of the respondents saying RABlog week should not move as a result of Medx.  This question was asked without regard to the choice of the week, but going forward I will not be overly concerned about the timing of MedX when selecting dates RABlog week.

Question 5: Contact information.

31 people left their name and email address for future communication about RABlog week.  If you received an email pointing to this blog your email was received and I thank you for your continued support of the idea.

Question 6 Miscellaneous comments.

I received twelve comments in the miscellaneous section of the survey.  I did receive one topic suggestion; it will be included in our topic survey in August. A few of the responses were questions, which I answered via email, and the rest were expressions of support for RABlog week.

I think the survey turned out amazingly well.  I believe the participation raised the profile of RABlog week and that means a lot.  Thank you to everyone, once again, for your support of RABlog week and check us out in August for the topic selection survey.
