Great cake with a big give away

Great cake with a big give away

I have been given products from Sans Sucre in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own and are in no way influenced by the company providing the items. Affiliate links are included in this post.   Sans Sucre (sugar-free in French) manufactures products that have limited, or no sugar added, and they are gluten-free.  I was contacted by them last week, and they asked if I might do a review.  I agreed because of the low/no sugar added appeal for people with diabetes, and since they are gluten-free, the products appeal to a wide...

Mary Jane and Pain

This is my fifth and final blog of RDBlog week which runs from September 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018.  Today the prompt is:   411 on Pain – Marijuana is being touted as a drug that can cure everything from skin rashes to heart disease.  Have you tried Marijuana for your Rheumatic Disease?  Perhaps you have a friend who has tried it, and you can share their experience.  If Marijuana was legal where you live would you use it for pain?   I often joke that Indiana will be the 184th state in the United States to...

Research Lurch

This is my fourth blog of RDBlog week which runs from September 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018.  Today the prompt is: Research – Do you incorporate research into your disease management? If you do explain how and what difference it has made. If not discuss why not. Help us understand any barriers you have experienced in using research about Rheumatic Disease.   So here is a confession, I do not.  Well, I mean I usually do not.  I love reading and thinking about research findings.  I love attending ACR, and I love listening to the...

Minding my own mind

Minding my own mind

This is my third blog of RDBlog week which runs from September 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018.  Today the prompt is: Mindfulness – What does mindfulness mean to you and how can it help as we live with our autoimmune condition? I must confess, I had to start by looking up the word mindfulness and then determine if I practice it.  I hear the term a lot, but it seems so nebulous that I had no idea how to answer the prompt.  Am I mindful?  I know at times in my life I have been mindless, but mindful? Definition So, I started with the...

Feeling Smaller in a big world

This is my second blog of RDBlog week which runs from September 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018.  Today the prompt is: Tips – How do you stay fit, cope with stress, relax, or capitalize on a great day. Tell us your secrets for the best life possible.   A big loser I have lost about 160 lbs. since 2013.  Wow, that sounds like a lot because it is.  I did this because my sternum was broken, and the surgeon said I needed to lose about 100 lbs. before he would operate.   I do not know if you understand how shocking it was to sit in front of a...

Playing Those Pill Pickup Blues

This is my first blog of RDBlog week which runs from September 24, 2018, to September 28, 2018.  Today the prompt is: “Patients with autoimmune disease often are not treated well by Doctors and Pharmacists when we ask for or receive prescription pain medicine.  What has been your experience?   Share the good, bad and ugly side of your experience.” I have to say I have seldom been treated badly by the medical profession.  I like my Rheumatologist and as for the other 15 doctors I see annually; I get along well with most all of them.  I...

Loss

Last year we lost our beautiful dog, Samantha. I am writing about Samantha because she was special (of course) and she helped me with arthritis. Samantha was about 4 years old when she came to live with us.  She was mostly a cocker spaniel, but certainly not a purebred.  Or maybe she was. She was the second mostly cocker spaniel and family member who has lived with us.   to read the remainder check out my post on...

Seasons of Marriage – Reflection on 41 Years

Sheryl and I celebrated our 41st wedding anniversary on June 3, 2018.  I am proud that we have made it this long and I am hopeful we will find another 41 happy years.  However, I have to say that our current marriage has lasted much less than 41 years.  I know that sounds odd.  So, let me explain how we have come to view these 41 years of marriage. You see we have found (Sheryl pointed this out) that over the last 41 years we have had different marriages.  Each one not formally acknowledged except in hindsight but each as real as if we had...

Gadgets

I love gadgets.  Those little things that make life easier?  Like the amazing automatic pot stirring device that sometimes jumps out of the pot.  Or the internet connected juicer.  If kitchens are not your thing then how about the garage?  I saw an internet connect tire pressure gauge.  It records the exact air pressure of each device each time you fill something up. It lets you keep track of and anticipate your air pressure needs.  Wow, I know that would come in handy.  The Bluetooth enabled saw looks interesting.  I just cannot figure out...
