Review of #DBlog Week

Review of #DBlog Week

The very first inspiration for Diabetes Blog Week was to help connect our blogging community, and that continues to be the most important reason it’s held every year. So let’s help foster and continue those connections as we wrap up another #Dblog Week. Share a link to a new blog you’ve found or a new friend you’ve made.

COMPUTER WORLDThis year’s #Dblog week has been stressful. I had so many other things to do that it was difficult to keep up, let alone read other blogs. Ugh, it has been a hell week for certain. Still I made it, I completed all seven blogs and did some good work.

The fascinating thing about #Dblog week is if one participates you inevitability find folks you love reading about or maybe just maybe you make a friend or two. These are the web sites I have been reading this week and now at the end of the week they are part of regular reads every week.

New blogs I discovered:

Maria M: My Life: A Long Trip with T1D I adore her writing. My favorite blog this week was ‘The Crazy Story (Wild Card). This is a top notch blog.

Frank: Type 1 Writes  his raw honesty is what captures my interest. His best bog of the week is ‘Why I Keep Diabetes To Myself’ it is a terrific blog and one of those ‘I wish I had said that’ posts.

Blogs I have visited in the past but will now view more:

Molly Schreiber: And Then You’re At Jax  Molly has both RA and Type 1 diabetes and that means we share much in common. Molly is a terrific writer. Her best blog of the week is ‘I Can’. It was a great and meaningful way to start blog week.

Happy_Computer_Man_convertedKatie Peterson: 1 Little Prick  Katie’s best blog of the week and the best idea for a blog I read all week came from day 6 of blog week, ‘Tell me a story’. In that blog Katie’s pump explains getting to know her. It is wonderfully creative.

Jen: Type 1 & Sons  Jen’s writing is well worth the read. I love the sarcasm mixed with her fun view of the world. Jenn is a terrific writer and if you have not stopped by please do. Her best blog of the week was ‘Changes! D-Blog Week Day 4’. In that blog she discusses a fictional letter sent by her pump. It is a fun read, for those of us frustrated with our pump companies.

Scott K. Johnson: Scott’s Diabetes  Scott had a lot going on all week and he could not post some blogs for #Dblog week. That did not however diminish the importance of Scott’s blog. He best blog of the week is not related to #Dblog week, it is the release if information about the Asante pump manufacturer ceasing operation. It is good timely, writing and it reinforces why I check in with Scott at least twice a week

Cayla: StrongerThanT1D  Cayla is a terrific blogger who happens to be young. With Cayla blogging our community has gained a very important voice. Cayla’s best blog of the week? How could I choose anything but ‘Who Inspired Me to Start Blogging’, that guy she writes about must be fantastic (ok not fantastic, she tended to embellish).

Trudy: TuDiabetes.org  Trudy is one of our best and most underrated bloggers. I hope you take time to read her material. Her best blog this week is ‘I Can’. I hope you go over to TUD and read the material Trudy contributes, she offers incredible insight.

Chris Stocker: The Life of a Diabetic  Chris is also a busy guy and like Scott, he did not complete the entire week. When he writes it is good. His best blog of the week was Cleaning Out My Closet. It is a great look at the hoarding many of us do.

Finally I am of course a big fan of Karen’s blog: Bitter~Sweet  Karen writes the best material week in week out. Besides coordinating #DBlog week for six years she wrote all seven blogs this year. Her best blog this week: All of them.

  1. Thankyou so much for the kind words Rick. I’m really humbled that you were able to connect with my blog. I had tried to leave a comment on your changes post a few days ago but it doesn’t look like it went through. It was one of my favourite topics to read about this week and gave me a lot of insights into diabetes several decades ago. Thanks again 🙂

    • Frank thank you for the wonderful comment. I apologize that your comments were caught up in the spam filter. I just found them this morning. I am humbled that so many bloggers made it over to this corner of the internet during blog week, I hope you will make this a regular stop.

  2. I still have a lot more reading to do from this week and thanks for the suggestions. I’m just happy to not have to write a blogpost today. I still don’t see how you manage to write as frequently as you do:-)

    • Well writing a lot is different than writing well. I was trained in government work, volume was my business. Meaning however might have been sacrificed. LOL Thank you Laddie for a comment that brought a smile to my face. 🙂
